At a family gathering, my mom brought up how appalled she was that a coworker of hers got fired on the spot for calling a Black person the n-word. Then she and my entire family talked about how it’s just always on the tip of your tongue, why should your life be ruined if you let it slip out? My aunt said sometimes after an interaction with a Premium Caucasians Shirt. say the word a bunch of times to get it out of her head. I wish I could ask them what they consider racist, but we don’t speak anymore. My mom doesn’t consider herself racist. I sent her a picture of my toddler with her friend, who is black, a couple of months ago. She referred to my daughter’s friend as an “n-word -let.” She called her friend a Premium Caucasians Shirt. But my daughter’s friend is a boy so I corrected her. She said, “Oh, they all look the same with their braids, who can tell?” I got so mad. Like, I understand a lot of babies don’t look one gender or another specific cause they’re all kind of squishy and my daughter gets called a boy all the time. But the way she said it was so dismissive. Her husband also jokingly called my husband a wetback.

My husband is half Mexican but looks 100% white, so her husband thought it was cool to say. They moved to South Carolina a few months back and it’s just getting worse and worse. I was on the phone with my mom than another day and she mentioned that a black coworker of a Premium Caucasians Shirt (which is admittedly rude). She said “everyone out there but him is a bunch of n@#$$%s” and I lost my shit. I tore into her saying “Don’t you EVER let me hear you say that awful word again! How could you let that nasty word come out of your mouth when 4 of your grandkids are mixed?!” She quickly apologized but we ended the call quickly. I’m still really pissed about it.
