Great idea, but it doesn’t go far enough since tons of people still have to work on holidays. Expand by mail voting, allow in-person voting to be a week-long, and make the Tuesday of that week a national holiday. The only way to reconcile that would be to have people receive payment from tax dollars, but it would need to be in proportion to the amount that people make to be fair and not disproportionately affect certain groups compared to others.

That sounds like an absolute Jameson The Glue Holding This 2020 Shitshow Together Shirt fucking nightmare. Having more people vote isn’t the bright idea that a lot of people think it is. Most people are fucking dumb, and now you’re saying that you want more of them influencing decision-making for the country. It’s just not a smart line of thought. There is early and mail-in voting for that reason. Also, it’s important to knock it out in one day for logistical reasons with the support that’s needed. I don’t see an issue with making it a holiday but it wouldn’t change much since early voting and absentee ballots are already an option. I think it a terrible idea.
