Considering I’ve worked at places where they scoff when you asked for time off to go vote, I would love for it to be a holiday so most jobs will be closed. I know food & retail hardly ever close. But if they could have truncated hours or something, that might help. I also think there should be transportation assistance on that day. I know on New Year’s Eve a lot of cabs/uber have deals or even free lifts. So I’d be willing to chip in for my local area to hire a bus or something at the very least.

I’d love for it to be a holiday, and for voting Corona Extra The Glue Holding This 2020 Shitshow Together Shirt to be a legal requirement with a small fine for non-participation. Allow easy access to early voting, mail-in voting, and day-of voting, give that day off, allow “abstain” votes so people who really don’t want to can mail their empty ballot back, and tack a small non-participation fine onto any non-voters taxes the next spring. Nothing huge, like $50 for anyone above the poverty level, maybe let it get exponentially greater as income increases, and have that money go directly to election security and operation.
