Very religious you know, an actual Birds Quilling With My Peeps Shirt Baptist preacher or minister or whatever. Did that impress the evangelicals? Did it fuck, he desegregated the religious schools on pain of losing their tax status and they turned to Reagan? Everyone needs to take a second and appreciate the fact that Jimmy Carter gave up his beloved peanut farm in order to ensure there were no issues with corruption. (Though, I’d almost love to see a national peanut conspiracy…) He also approved homebrewing laws and still builds homes for the underprivileged to this day. We didn’t deserve Jimmy Carter. And we can only pray we get another good soul back into the office

Jimmy Carter is my favorite Birds Quilling With My Peeps Shirt President and ex-President. The man was dealt an impossible hand and still led the country with honesty and integrity. Had we taken his policies seriously, we would be in a better place today (not just us, but likely the whole world). Did Carter make mistakes? Yes. So does every president. It’s impossible to do the job perfectly. Still, Carter is my favorite. Always has been. I was not alive for Carter’s presidency, and those who were may have a perspective born of those times that I don’t. That said, over the years I’ve come to think of Carter as easily, easily, the best living ex-president I’m likely to see in my lifetime. The man seems so honorable and kind, a statesman, and not just a politician.
